Your Home Physio Story

I created the “Your Home Physio” home-visiting physiotherapy business over 10 years ago, when I was starting a family and needed the flexibility of hours. I had been working in a similar role in the public health setting, and could see what a huge benefit it was to be able to see people in their home environment, use the resources they had at hand, work on practical goals, and involve their loved ones and carers in the process.  The business has involved seeing clients in their own homes, care facilities, gyms, pools, and down at the park! I have worked with people requiring rehabilitation and treatment for almost 20 years, and still get a buzz when I am able to help people achieve their goals. I feel very privileged each and every time someone invites me into their home. I truly believe it is the way of the future when it comes to healthcare.

My Story

I have been a physio for almost two decades. I have significant experience in the Aged Care, Disability, and Rehabilitation sectors, with a special interest in neurology, disability, chronic disease, women’s and men’s pelvic health, and continence. After working in a tertiary hospital in Perth, I moved to Kalgoorlie where I led a physiotherapy department and practised in every clinical area physiotherapy has to offer. Upon moving back to Perth, I worked as a Senior Physiotherapist for “Rehabilitation In The Home”, and also at Complex Care Facilities, as well as setting up this business. I have also been involved in research, and collaborated on four publications so far. I am a proud APA Member, and am part of the Neurology National Group and Disability Network Group.

I love to learn new things, and find new challenges. I also love to get involved in the local community. I co-led the creation of a nature playground at my children’s school worth over $100,000. I am passionate about sustainability, and was one of the founding members of the Bayswater ‘Transition Town’ network, a grass roots project aimed at increasing sustainability and reducing the effects of climate change.
